this place is a treasure trove. i can’t believe its in my neighborhood. after scouring fred segal santa monica for appropriate birthday gifts for my mom’s 75th, and finding nothing, ludicrously overpriced nothing to boot, i thought I’d drive by Ms. Rhein’s and have a look. I’d been in fairly recently and doubted there could be much new merchandise, but there was. Perfect topaz drop, lever-back earrings, scented candle to-die-for, and a salmon pink pashmina shawl my mother said was not a shawl but a confection! Such a joyous experience. Super helpful, never overly-so, manageress, is a delight. My mother loved receiving gifts from this store, which she knows well because she got me a lovely raw black diamond/ gold necklace there, for my birthday a couple of months back. (j’adore.) I love all things local and this store definitely qualifies. ?Deborah Rhein designs most of the items in the store. ?There is also a production studio on site. ?There is a wide variety of items including silverware, jewelry, clothing, wallets. ?The prices were reasonable given the quality and the fact that they were made locally by hand.
This is a very cute store. I believe most if not everything they sell is handmade. If you are looking for a cute crafty belt, passport holders, silverware, or anything of that sort check this place out. Their jewelry is amazing but way out of my price range. If you can afford it then it’s well worth it!
I discovered DL Rhein about a year ago, soon after they opened, and I immediately fell in love. ?I find myself there almost every other week, not only to pick up gifts, must-have jewelry and cute clothing, but for the friendly neighborhood chit-chat with proprietor Andy Rhein. ?The gorgeous store d��cor (which another customer told me was designed his interior decorator sister) is a place that’s very relaxing to shop in, and that’s a good thing if shopping stresses you out. ?I’m also told they donated to a local public elementary school’s silent auction cz jewelry, which scores big points in my book.
I found this store over 2 years ago and the owner as well as her support staff could not be more helpful. ?I love to browse the shop, buy gifts for friends and purchase treasures for myself. Their website is eye candy and I am loving their new blog. ?Deborah, the owner, has a keen perspective, a creative eye, and the content she writes about sparks emotion and humor. When I need something extra special or simply feeling like I want friendly, authentic conversation, I head over to D.L. Rhein and all my needs are met.
I didn’t actually buy anything here, but I was in looking for a brooch, and they said they could custom make one out of a ring they had in stock. ?I found a brooch in the meantime somewhere else, but they went above and beyond to help me and even ordered a special pin back for me. ?Definitely a cute place for gifts.

My fianc�� purchased my ring in Newport, RI and since we live in LA, I was looking for someone who works with estate jewelry to resize it. ?When we came to Kurt pearl necklace, he was very honest. ?He said he didn’t want to be responsible for anything happening to the setting as the stones could fall out due to re-sizing. ?He advised us to go back to where the ring was purchased, especially since that jeweler already guaranteed his work. ?I think it takes a lot of integrity to turn someone away and to be so honest. ?Several months later, my fianc�� and I began the search for our wedding bands. ?We stopped by Excalibur and within minutes I saw the ring perfect for him. ?It even fit him, no re-sizing needed! ?Now that is fait. ?I on the other hand wanted a vintage diamond eternity band and was considering have one custom made until I saw a very unique piece at Excalibur. ?No other jeweler I had been too had a ring like this so I knew it was special. ?We couldn’t be happier with the service we received.Excalibur is a true gem and I highly recommend exploring their unique inventory. ?I will continue to come back here as long as I live in LA and it is always a pleasure to be welcomed back! ?Thank you for everything, Sohelia, Danny and Kurt! I am so impressed with Excalibur! I have been searching the city for a dependable, honest and yet stylish jeweler and Excalibur is it. Their jewelry is elegant and very fairly priced, but even more importantly their jeweler is a true master.I had an eternity band that needed to get resized and altered slightly and another ring to trade in. I went to a number of jewelers and the others just didn’t compare in terms of their fairness, expertise or courtesy. I was hesitant at first to even try Excalibur because while they are an independent store, they reside inside of Paper Bag Princess which is a vintage store that specializes both in very high end fashion and rudeness. The staff are notoriously unhelpful, even the security guard seems like he’s judging you. Excalibur’s staff on the other hand are welcoming and supportive. Which although it sounds funny, is extremely important when buying wedding rings and or any other kind of jewelry really. Again, Excalibur is a great place!
First of all, let me say that I have never written a Yelp review before Shamballa Jewellery, but my excellent experience here has prompted me to do so now. ?My fiance and I wanted an antique engagement ring and after much searching and a couple of strike outs, landed here. ?The staff is phenomenal. ?I cannot agree more with other reviewers who note the high level of customer service before, during and after purchase and laid back environment. ?We had the unfortunate luck to lose one of the diamonds out of the prong setting. ?I called up Danny and he got it fixed quickly and for NO CHARGE. ?I dare you to find an antique jeweler elsewhere that would do this gratis. ?I highly recommend them and will be using them for all of my future jewelry needs. ?Thanks Danny!
The search for an antique engagement ring can be quite a challenge. ?The east coast has plenty of antique malls that have a variety of vendors under one roof, but here in LA I haven’t been able to find the same experience. ?Upon a recommendation from a lady at the flea market as well as some googling, I decided to check this place out. ?It was an amazing experience. ?They were polite, helpful without being pushy, and friendly. ?I had a pretty good idea what I wanted, and was surprised to find about three trays of rings in our price range. ?They actually would bring out a tray of rings and had an empty tray for us to put our favorites for comparison. ?Most stores only show you one ring at a time due to insurance policies, but they not only let us see more than one at a time but let us walk over to the window with two on my finger to compare in the sunlight. ?We narrowed it down to about five, then down to two. ?The prices in our favorites ranged from just under 1000 to 2000 (depending on stone size/quality as well as white gold vs. platinum). ?It was an amazing experience. ?The woman behind the counter (Sohaila, if I remember correctly) was very helpful. ?The security guard was nice, and even offered his opinion when asked. ?They were able to clean it up and size it and have it all ready for me the very next day. ?We will be back for the wedding bands. ?And I may even bring my grandma’s engagement ring to be restored.
